The foundation has helped to provide additional equipment at the secondary school in Lovech which specializes in science. ZSPACE devices, cameras and corresponding software can be used to conduct tests and experiments using 3D images in augmented reality during mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM) lessons. This facilitates a new kind of interactive learning experience that can make science and technology lessons more engaging.

With assistance from the foundation, the vocational college for transport engineering and electronics in Lovech expanded its existing equipment with stereo-scopic 3D laptops and corresponding software. This initiative also led to the creation of a virtual STEM laboratory, enabling multiple groups of students to engage with the technology simultaneously. This enhancement has made experiments with electrical circuits more realistic and illustrative than ever before.

With the so-called "Talenthaus", the technical center Minden-Lübbecke e. V. has launched a useful career orientation project, which has been tried and tested in the East Westphalia-Lippe region. The Talenthaus has been set up in a stationary and a mobile version. In the mobile model, stations are set up in schools where young people can use materials, tools or objects from different occupational fields. Youngsters can test themselves on the offered stations in a rotation system. With these different practical training modules under professional supervision in the ratio of 1:10, the young people are introduced to professional activities from everyday business life.

The Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung supported this project for students of seventh grade in secondary school in the district Oberbergischer Kreis.

In 1999, the scientists Thomas Eversberg and Klaus Vollmann established the Schnörringen Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Waldbröl-Schnörringen with the aim to awake a passion for technology and science in young people.

In addition to their previous educational work they built a student laboratory in the form of several identical observatories. Small groups of up to three young people work here at an own observatory station.

The Hans Hermann Voss Foundation supported the set-up of the laboratory by funding the purchase of instruments like telescopes, spectrographs, oculars or cameras.

At first glance, the human brain is abstract and difficult for children to grasp because it lies inside the head. As part of the project „We are brain researchers!", the Hertie Foundation has developed „brain research boxes". With their help, children in the 3rd and 4th grades of elementary school are made more familiar with the control center of our body.

The schoolchildren slip into the role of a real brain researcher and find the answers to questions about the brain by experimenting on their own. At the same time, they gain first practical experience in dealing with scientific questions and methods.

The Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung has financed the production of five „brain research boxes” for the district Oberbergischer Kreis and the region Bergisches Land.

Elementary schools can borrow the „brain research boxes” at no cost from local media centres.

With the support of the Hans Hermann Voss Foundation, the Education network Oberberg provides all 144 daycare centers (Kita) in the district Oberbergischer Kreis with a "Oberbergische MINT (STEM) picture book box".

A picture book box contains 13 books on 12 different STEM areas, each with a strong regional focus, which are meant to be thematized in the everyday life of the daycare center. Topics are for example "plants", "animals", "mobility", "water" or "energy" and questions will be asked like "What is living and growing around my home area?", or "What is the significance of water and energy?".

The target is to arouse children's joy in language and to inform about regional specificities in nature and technology. This way, the project aims at promoting language and reading skills as well as developing a first understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In addition to a guide for practicioners, the book box also includes a one-day practical training for one of the daycare center’s qualified employees.

The ideas kit is a suitcase designed both for educators and parents that is full of game suggestions for improving the German language skills of preschool children. The suitcase is intended for use in daycare centers and paediatric practices and is specifically intended to help parents, who themselves have difficulties with the German language, to support their children in learning German.
The idea to expand the play options for integrating language development and education in families into everyday life originated in 2019 in the Education Agency (Bildungsbüro) of the district Oberbergischer Kreis. This is where the ideas kit was finally developed and initially used as a prototype in four daycare centers, with a positive response. The work materials in the ideas kit are generally easy to understand and offer a comprehensive group of topics for discussions with parents.
The Hans Hermann Voss Foundation supported the production of 200 ideas kits, which were distributed throughout the Oberbergischer Kreis district by summer 2021. The distribution of the ideas kit was linked to the participation of one person per daycare center in a half-day symposium.

As part of the nationwide STEM education initiative “Stiftung Kinder forschen” (Little Scientists Foundation), educators in daycare centers and elementary school are trained at :metabolon to help children discover, research and learn in a targeted manner. In Oberberg, a regional network has been created in close cooperation between the Oberberg district and the Bergischer Abfallwirtschaftsverband, which offers all daycare centers throughout the district the opportunity to be certified as a Little Scientists' House.

The goal of the Summer Academy of the IHK Foundation is to pave the way for young people with difficult access to the training and labor market for a durable professional integration, and at the same time to counteract the growing shortage of skilled workers. The Summer Academy is aimed at school graduates who have not yet found an apprenticeship and want to prepare for the training.

In the Summer Academy courses, participants receive intensive support in mathematics in the mornings, followed by communication, team and application trainings in the afternoons. Upon successful completion of the courses, participants receive a certificate to demonstrate their commitment to training companies.

On initiative of the Hans Hermann Voss Foundation, from 2014 onwards, different schools from Wipperfürth and Marienheide applied for the title "STEM-friendly school" and were awarded. Some schools were awarded additionally as a "Digital school".

The initiator of the distinctions is the initiative "MINT Zukunft schaffen" (Creating a STEM future). This initiative aims to pool the many already existing individual STEM initiatives in order to give the topic of STEM a wider platform through a collective stand. An important goal of "MINT Zukunft schaffen" is to improve the quantity and quality of teaching and learning in the STEM subjects at schools and universities.
