Set-up of a student laboratory at Schnörringen Telescope Science Institute (STScI)

In 1999, the scientists Thomas Eversberg and Klaus Vollmann established the Schnörringen Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Waldbröl-Schnörringen with the aim to awake a passion for technology and science in young people.

In addition to their previous educational work they built a student laboratory in the form of several identical observatories. Small groups of up to three young people work here at an own observatory station.

The Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung supported the set-up of the laboratory by funding the purchase of instruments like telescopes, spectrographs, oculars or cameras.
