Little Scientists' House

Scientific, mathematical and technical education for children
All day-care centers in the district Oberbergischer Kreis have the opportunity to become “Little Scientists' Houses.”
Haus der kleinen Forscher (Little Scientists' House) is a non-profit foundation located in Berlin. Their goal is to promote natural science, mathematic, and technical education in daycares and elementary schools. This idea is spread and implemented via local networks.
In the Oberberg district, the waste management association Bergischer Abfallwirtschaftsverband, :metabolon, and the district government are the local network partners. The project is financially supported by the Hans Hermann Voss Foundation. This offer of the educational initiative in the Oberberg district aims to promote MINT competence in kindergartens and elementary schools across the region. The educational staff of the daycare is trained in workshops. Experiences and ideas for how to increase the integration of natural science, mathematics, and technology into everyday life can be gleaned here. Daycares that regularly conduct research with the children can be certified as “Haus der kleinen Forscher” (Little Scientists' House).
