The Hans Hermann Voss Foundation has supported the E-Jet concept study at RWTH Aachen University. This study aimed at enabling students and academic staff from different disciplines to illustrate and present a series of innovative, interconnected building blocks for a vehicle model of the future. The project was divided into the work packages active aerodynamic surfaces, hybrid low-voltage drive, innovative vehicle guidance, integral safety concept and ultralight construction on both concept and system level.

Within the German national scholarship, the Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung supported between 2013 and 2021 all in all more than 500 scholarships at RWTH Aachen University, TH Cologne, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg as well as at the TU Darmstadt.
In addition to financial support, the scholarship includes an ideal supporting program like workshops, factory visits or specialist presentations.

From 2013 to 2021, in the style of the scholarship program of the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Auslandsdienst, DAAD), the Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung supported international scholarships. The program aims at promoting thesis works, interns and research visits in the context of studies in companies or international universities. Hereby intercultural competences as well as language skills will be trained.
Since 2001, RWTH Aachen University and Tsinghua University Peking have been operating a joint English-language double-master program for students of mechanical engineering. The aim of the program is to train highly qualified engineers, who are well-versed in both cultures through their education in China and Germany and after finalizing their studies will be working in a German-Chinese environment, in the economical or research sector, thus contributing to bilateral cooperation. During the academic years 2017/2018 until 2020/21 inclusive, the Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung granted these scholarships to support the Chinese students' stay in Aachen.

The target of the project TeachING was intended to rouse interest in pupils for questions about natural science and to inspire to a corresponding choice of studies. Using a cooperation concept of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) with various schools, pupils in Wipperfürth were given during a two-day workshop an understanding of the job profile of an engineer. The first day was carried out under the topic “efficient production management”: The students developed a production process and learned the fundamentals of lean production in a playful and engaging way. The second day took place at the machine tools laboratory. A tour of the RWTH demonstration factory was on the agenda, as well as a digital factory design planning. Questions could have been raised around the studies at RWTH too.

There are a large number of specialist student competitions, some of them international, which are geared towards contributions from students or groups of students. When preparing and participating in these competitions, students learn a range of non-technical skills, such as teamwork, organization, marketing and financial planning. With a special project fund at the RWTH Aachen University for student competitions, the Hans Hermann Voss Foundation provided support to groups of students to take part also in those international, interdisciplinary competitions, for which it is difficult to obtain sponsorship from the economy.
